La Plañidera: What is life? A frenzy. What is life? An illusion, a shadow, a fiction. The greatest good’s but little, and this life is but a dream, and dreams are only dreams.
The Sun: Gabriel, my faithful warrior. Dark times are upon us, and I will need your blade once more.
Voices: You have been chosen… Your time has come.
The Sun: Do not waver—should you fail now, the world will drown in the waters of hatred.
Voices: The Beast has awakened… The Destroyer has risen.
The Sun: Beyond the Sea of Storms stands a cathedral where my presence is no longer welcome. A prison built to contain the power of the Tides.
Voices: Atone the guilt… Fulfill your duty… Obey your blood…
The Sun: Embrace your legacy and cast out the evil that dwells there before it breaks its chains. May the light of The Sun reign now and forevermore! CRISOL!
Voices: CRISOL! CRISOL!
Gabriel: Why am I here? How did I end up in this place? Now I remember… My lord brought me here to fulfill His will. I must find that cathedral as soon as possible.
Gabriel: Seriously? I really hate the water…
Gabriel: I wonder if anyone at the Church will miss me…
Gabriel: Let us hope that it holds. That was close…
Gabriel: By The Sun… it is huge. Come on… Just a little further…
Voices: There it is… the prison of the Lord of the Sea…
Gabriel: No doubt about it… It is the very same cathedral from my visions. The path is blocked. I will have to find another way around.
Gabriel: I have seen battlefields before… but never one without corpses. Something is not right. I do not know who… or what… did this. But I cannot allow it to set foot in Hispania.
Solari: Ángela, get back to the fair right now! It’s dangerous out there.
Ángela: Emilio went to the Cathedral alone. I’m not leaving him behind.
Solari: I get it, but at least let us send help.
Ángela: I’m not wasting any more time. Every second counts.
Solari: Listen to me! You won’t get far on your own. Trust me. I swear we’ll find him—together.
Ángela: …Okay… just be quick. Huh? Damn! It’s them! They’ve found me!
Gabriel: Hold it right there! She looked terrified.
Ángela: [heart-rending cry]
Gabriel: I have a bad feeling about this.
Mediodía: Hellooo? Ángela, you there? Come on, pick up already… You’re starting to freak me out. Ángela! Stop foolin’ around… or I swear I’m gonna lose my marbles!
Gabriel: This is Captain Gabriel Escudero. Do you copy?
Mediodía: Captain, huh? Who are you, little soldier? And where’s Ángela?
Gabriel: I am afraid she is gone. All I found was her radio.
Mediodía: Ahhh, she was my favorite! Damn statues! And you… better get out of here… or you’ll be pushing daisies too.
Gabriel: Hello? What did she mean by… statues?
The Sun: Gabriel… Have you given up already? Is this how far your faith goes?
Voices: You are weak… Unworthy.
Gabriel: No, my Lord. I just need another chance. I swear I will not fail you again.
The Sun: Then tell Me… Do you seek My blood to vanquish the enemies of The Sun?
Voices: Blood… The blood of The Sun…
Gabriel: Please… grant it to me…
The Sun: Louder! Say it louder!
Gabriel: Yes, my Lord! Grant me Your power! Bless me with Your blood!
Voices: Blood… You need blood. Look at that beast… Reclaim it…
Gabriel: Its life flows inside me… I can feel it.
Voices: More blood… not enough…
Gabriel: I am still too weak… I will need something a bit more… sharp.
Voices: Keep going… just a little more. Yes… Take it all… It’s yours.
Gabriel: Incredible. I have never felt so… alive. Path is clear.
Mediodía: Peek-a-boo! Still alive?
Gabriel: Thanks to The Sun.
Mediodía: Ooooh, a Sun buddy! Looks like we’re on the same team. By the way, name’s Mediodía.
Gabriel: You? A servant of The Sun? If that is true… then help me reach the Cathedral of the Sea.
Mediodía: I could, sure… But Gabe, I don’t think that’s such a great idea.
Gabriel: Do not call me that, just tell me how to get there. The rest is my business—got it?
Mediodía: Ugh, always the same old son… fine, fine. Río Seco’s just a short stroll away. Follow the canal, it’ll take you straight to the Cathedral. Piece of cake… But seriously, Gabe, you should swing by the hideout first.
Gabriel: I said do not call me that… Never mind. Thanks for the help.
Gabriel: This must be the river that girl mentioned.
Gabriel: Cut-off too… Why am I not surprised?
Gabriel: Sharper than ever.
Tomás de la Fuente: This can’t be happening. Somebody wake me up already? They ended the lives of all my family. My kids… my wife… I didn’t even have time to say goodbye. Padre Arroyo says that the Cathedral is a safe place, that the Sea will protect us within Its walls. I want to believe him, I NEED to believe him… but getting there won’t be easy. My truck is in the garage, and those things… are everywhere.
Aarón Gutiérrez: I am not leaving this place. There is something out there… Something worse than those damn statues. I couldn’t see her clearly, but she is huge. Everytime she moves, the floor trembles, like if the Earth were about to rip apart. By the Holiest Sea… don’t let her find me. She is close… I can hear her… I can hear her pray…
Gabriel: I will need to cut the power if I want to get any close.
Gabriel: This should do the trick.
Gabriel: Just my luck.
Voices: His blood… Take it. In his memories you will find what you seek.
Gabriel: No… I cannot do this. That is not an animal.
Voices: Silence! Would you dare disobey The Sun?!
Gabriel: N-Never. And what now?
Dolores: You…
Gabriel: By The Sun!
Mediodía: Gabe, listen to me! Get to the shelter—there’s still time!
Gabriel: You again? Why can you not mind your own business?
Mediodía: Oh, excuse me, Mister Sunshine! I’m just trying to make sure you don’t get yourself killed!
Gabriel: I do not need anyone worrying about me.
Mediodía: And has anyone ever told you that you’re stubborn as a mule? Reinforcements are already on their way. We just lost Ángela—don’t go adding yourself to the list.
Gabriel: Someday, I will stand before The Sun… but I promise you—today is not that day.
Gabriel: I am almost there.
Miguel Errante: I can see it! There it is, the Cathedral.
Silvia Loreto: So close that I can almost touch it.
Santiago Arnaldos: Padre Arroyo said that we would be safe inside.
Orlando Revilla: I just need to keep going, just a few more steps.
Padre Arroyo: Welcome, Captain Escudero. We have been expecting you.
Gabriel: Who are you? Do I know you?
Padre Arroyo: No… Not yet. But the Sea has told me much about you. Allow me to introduce myself: I am Padre Augusto Arroyo, Sumo Timonel of Tormentosa.
Gabriel: Am I meant to be impressed? You sound like just another fanatic to me.
Padre Arroyo: Perhaps you are right. I am nothing but a messenger, after all. But you, sir… you have a far greater role to play. Rejoice! For the God of the Sea has chosen you to be His witness.
Gabriel: I serve The Sun. So tell your “god” I am not interested.
Padre Arroyo: No one escapes their fate, no matter how hard they try. The Sun has ruled long enough… and soon, you’ll have the honor of watching it drown beneath the waves.
Gabriel: Listen well, preacher: the only thing I will be watching is your fall.
Padre Arroyo: Just as he foretold. But don’t keep my Lord waiting—He grows impatient.
Voices: There it is… the prison of the Lord of the Sea…
The Sea: Do you think you can stop me? That your faith alone will calm the tide’s fury? Foolish little man… you are not strong enough.
Gabriel: No, I am not… But as long as The Sun stands with me, there is nothing I cannot do!
The Sea: Too much trust in a god too cowardly to fight his own battles.
Gabriel: Show yourself and face me! Stop skulking in the shadows!
The Sea: You are the one hiding, Gabriel. But you can’t fool me. Deep down, you know you’re nothing but a sinner.
Voices: The seal… The prison gate… You must restore it…
Gabriel: Alright, Gabriel… How hard can it be to fix an arcane seal?
Antonio Castilla: At the dawn of time, darkness ruled the world, forcing mankind to cower in fear among the shadows. Moved by compassion, The Sun God descended from the heavens and taught them the secret arts of fire. Those sacred flames tore night from day, giving rise to civilization—and with it, to art, music, and literature. Enchanted by the imagination of his children, The Sun took human form and founded a city He would soon call home.
Gabriel: What are these memories? No… The bond is not strong enough…
Dolores: THAT BLOOD DOESN’T BELONG TO YOU, FILTHY MURDERER!
Solari: No! No! Please! No! No! Madre Dolores, I get you! No! Forgive me, please! No! No! Aaaghhhh!
Dolores: YOU BETTER START PRAYING!
Gabriel: I will save my prayers—for your funeral!
Dolores: I WAS GOING TO BE QUICK, BUT NOW I’LL ENJOY WATCHING YOU SUFFER!
Solari 2: Let him go, you monster!
Solari 3: Keep shooting! Aim for the heart!
Solari 4: Heeelp! Aaaarghhhh!
Solari 3: I found him! He’s still breathing!
Solari 5: C’mon! We have to get him outta here!
Gabriel: My head… Ugh. Hey! Is anyone there?!
Mediodía: Well, well! Sleeping Beauty’s finally awake!
Gabriel: Mediodía? You knew the seal was beyond repair, and said nothing?!
Mediodía: Cool your jets! I did warn you not to go in, but no, Mr. “It’s my business” didn’t listen to me. And now, here we are… My boys risked their buttocks saving yours… Some of ‘em didn’t even make it back. But hey, who’s counting, right?
Gabriel: I am sorry about your men.
Mediodía: Look, we’re fans of The Sun, too. A sorta secret club, ya know? Wardens of some ancient evil that’s been chained up on this island for ages… Well, until some idiots screwed it up. Bravo! Round of applause!
Gabriel: And now you want me to clean up your mess.
Mediodía: Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner! The seal that kept it trapped was cast with the blood of the four most die-hard Sun devotees. And guess what? Only the blood of their descendants can fix it! You already gobbled one up in the Cathedral, right? Nasty… But we still need three more for the grand finale!
Gabriel: All right, we will be allies… for now. But stay out of my way, understood? You would only slow me down.
Mediodía: Whatever you say, Gabe! You’re the boss. I’ll back you up from here. Now get out there and… let’s boogie!
Solari: I can’t feel my leg… I can’t feel it…
Solari: Do you really think we can win? Sometimes it feels like all hope is lost…
Solari 2: Come on, brother. Don’t lose faith. Now that the Chosen One is here, our luck’s turning around.
Solari: I guess you’re right… though, to be honest, he’s not exactly what I expected.
Solari 2: Oh yeah? What were you expecting?
Solari: I dunno… taller?
Gabriel: We will meet again… sooner than you think.
La Plañidera: Yoohoo, little robin. Come closer, don’t be shy.
Gabriel: Who are you?
La Plañidera: Just a humble admirer, nothing more. It’s not every day a soldier of The Sun visits us, especially one so handsome.
Gabriel: Cut the nonsense, witch! I do not have time for games.
La Plañidera: Suche venom, mon cher! This “witch” only wants to help you.
Gabriel: Oh really? And what could you possibly offer me?
La Plañidera: Oh, uh… Spells? Blessings, or perhaps… enhance your divine blood? All for a modest price, of course. Mm? As you can understand, keeping up this lifestyle isn’t cheap. But don’t worry, you won’t have to sell me your soul. At least, not yet. Welcome, mon cœur. Good choice. May fortune smile upon you.
Mediodía: One, two, testing… one, two! Can you hear me?
Gabriel: Loud and clear.
Mediodía: Fabulous! Our base is tucked away beneath the Tormentosa fair. The perfect cover, right? Take a stroll, don’t be shy. Who knows? You might find something useful among all this junk… And if you’re up for a challenge, try beating my hight score at the Pulporrazo. I’m stronger than I look, you know! But don’t get too comfy. Herminia Espina’s waiting for us in the Mermaids’ Quarter. Once you’re done, look for the gate with the lit battlements. My boys will open it for you with pleasure.
Solari: When I was a kid, the carousel felt like the most magical thing in the world. Now look at it… just a pile of rusty junk.
Solari 2: Maybe The Sun chose you… but that doesn’t mean I trust you.
Solari: How much longer till the shift changes? I’m gonna start growing roots at this rate…
Solari 2: Shut your mouth. If we are still here, it is because of you. How about not throwing a tantrum in front of the master-at-arms? I don’t need anyone fighting my battles.
Solari: Chosen One, give the games a try. Let’s see if The Sun is truly on your side.
Games Voices: Everyone wants glory, but only one can win this race! You don’t need eight arms to win—just one solid smack to smash the score! Show your friends who’s the fastest across the Mar de las Tormentas! Prizes for everyone! Bring your tickets and pick your reward! Stronger than a tuna? Let’s see it! Pick your favorite ophiotaur and ride the waves to victory! Ready to defend the Sea with a mighty right hook? Glory isn’t earned with words—it’s earned with knuckles! Come one and all! No victory without a reward! Trade your tickets here! Winning was the hard part! Now comes the fun—pick your prize! Protect Tormentosa from the flames and earn the blessing of the Seas! Blessed be the hero of Tormentosa! Please, collect your prize. Was that a punch or a gentle breeze? Yikes! My grandma hits harder than that… Now that’s a punch, sailor! Here are your tickets! Ready… set… go! We have a winner! Come claim your tickets!
Solari 2: We finally caught one of them.
Solari: Yeah… but where are the rest of those bastards hiding?
Solari 2: Word is Espina’s holed up at Cuerno Albino.
Solari 3: They’ve already sent some of our best after her… but so far, none of them came back alive.
Solari: So you’re the Chosen One, huh? Let’s see how long you last.
Solari: Lived in this town my whole life and I still can’t get used to the rain… I’m surprised I haven’t grown scales by now.
Solari: Seriously? Galurion stew again?
Solari 2: And what did the gentleman expect? A nice juicy ophiotaur steak?
Solari: With a side of crispy potatoes, don’t forget that.
Solari 2: Next time, you go out and hunt for food. Until then, shut up and eat what we’ve got.
Solari: At this rate, I’m gonna start clucking.
Solari 2: Keep whining, and I might just toss you into the pot.
Solari: If it helps spice up the menu, I’ll volunteer.
Solari: How about we sneak off somewhere a bit more private?
Solari 2: Seriously, Claudia? Now?
Solari: If not now, then when? We don’t even know if there’ll be a later…
Solari 2: I know, but… I don’t want it to feel like goodbye.
Solari: Come on, Rodrigo. Just for a moment—just to forget all this.
Solari 2: I said no. Besides… We’re not even married.
Solari: My mother warned me—I should’ve gone with the baker’s son.
Solari 2: What?!
Solari: Nothing, nothing, my love. Just talking nonsense…
Solari: Oh, Almighty Sun, guide my path in this hour of darkness. As the shadows of the Abyss close in, let your sacred light banish them. And if I am to fall, let my flesh turn to ash, so my soul may ascend to You, consumed in Your flames for all eternity.
Solari: Head to the Mermaid District. They’re waiting for you there. Come on then, lift it!
