Globe

Diana: Thank you, Hugh! I’m gonna give it a spin! What are all these lines? I don’t see those on the real Earth… Now, where’s Hugh from? Venezuela… Malaysia… Denmark… Earth things are fun. Yay! That was fun! The globe makes the Earth seem small, like it’s easy to just go anywhere! But I know, it’s actually way bigger than the moon! Isn’t that weird?
Hugh: I thought the exact same thing when I was your age… That if I worked hard enough, I could go anywhere. Truth is—if you’re up for it, nothing’s stoppin’ you.

Dice

Diana: Somebody left their dice here…
Hugh: Wait—since when did we have dice?
Diana: Since we printed the globe! They both appeared at the same time!
Hugh: I see… Looks like we got some freebies.
Diana: Freebies…?
Hugh: The person who made that REM put in a little extra to cheer us up.
Diana: I see! I wanna tell the person who made it that I liked it a lot!
Hugh: Hehe, I’m sure they got the message.

Crayons

Diana: So…many…colors! I’ve been wanting to draw forever! I’ll draw you, Hugh! I love drawing! Turning lines into pictures is fun! What color should I use next? Oh Hugh! Drawing on a screen is fun, but nothing beats the feel of crayons! I wanna draw all the things I like and use every color crayon!
Hugh: So what’s your favorite color?
Diana: Favorite color…? Hmm… This is tough… I can’t choose, I like all of them!
Hugh: All right, no rush. Fill me in when you’ve figured it out.
Diana: OK! I’ll let you know! Drawing was so much fun that—I kinda made a mess…
Hugh: Not missing any colors?
Diana: Nope! They’re all there!
Hugh: Glad to hear it. Crayons tend to run off, and the ones you use the most? They’re gone before you know it.
Diana: Crayons can run!?
Hugh: Yeah, gotta put ‘em away right, or they’ll roll away on ya!

Basketball

Diana: Yay! Let’s play! Hugh, can you dribble? Dribbling is hard… I wish we had a bigger court, then we could play a real match! The ball is actually pretty heavy… And hard too… Hey, Hugh! Catch!
Hugh: Ugh!
Diana: You OK? Not hurt, are you?
Hugh: Heh, nice pass, kiddo!
Diana: Rolling, throwing and bouncing! Basketballs are the best! Hugh, wanna play!? I’ll pass it to you!
Hugh: Thanks for asking, but I’m good for now.
Diana: Did you like basketball when you were a kid?
Hugh: Yeah, I’ve been playing ever since I was little, and I still try to hit the court on my days off. Come to think of it… It’s been a while. I don’t even remember the last time I played. Doesn’t matter where you go or how old you get, the ball’s always there for ya.
Diana: Ah, the ball’s rolling away. I think I’ve put the ball away, but somehow it rolls off. So I pick it up to put it back, but end up playing with it again!
Hugh: That’s just what it wants. Sometimes toys and books just pull your strings like that.
Diana: Pull my strings!? How?
Hugh: Beats me. Maybe they don’t like to be left alone.

Slide

Diana: What do you do with this? Should I climb up it? Aww, this slide’s too small for Hugh. I wanted to slide down together! Ahahaha! Zooooom! The wind feels so nice when I’m sliding! I wish I could go faster! Maybe I could use your thrusters sometime?
Hugh: Nope, not happening. These things aren’t toys.
Diana: Jeez, I was only joking! I know that!
Hugh: Not so sure about that after your track record with cats…

TV

Station AI: Read Earth Memory series completed. Replicating related objects.
Diana: We did it! Look! We’ve collected the entire series! You must spend every day on Earth in fun places like this! What a bulky-looking monitor… It’s like a box. I wonder what it plays… It’s hard to stop watching when there’s always something on. Maybe I should try another channel… Watching TV is fun, but it’s also kinda boring…
Hugh: Huh? I thought you liked TV…
Diana: I do! But when I’m watching it, time just drifts away! And then when the show is over, I just feel like I wasted a bunch of time…
Hugh: Doesn’t help that the show lineup here is so thin. At least on Earth, waiting for the next week’s episode is something to look forward to.
Diana: Ugh, I don’t wanna wait!
Hugh: Hehehe… I know the feeling…

Skateboard

Diana: Huh, it’s a board… with wheels. Am I supposed to ride it? The design is so simple, but it’s actually pretty hard to ride… I can’t really ride it, but—it’s fun! I gotta practice if I don’t wanna fall! Hey there, Hugh! Woo! Someday I’ll be a skateboarding pro. I’m not super good yet, but I’m trying!
Hugh: Sounds good to me. Skating’s pretty cool once you get the hang of it.
Diana: Really!? You think that’s cool?
Hugh: Yeah. Leaning to thrash at your age would be awesome.
Diana: No way…! Then I’ve got work to do!

Balloons

Diana: They’re floating but how? Gas? Come on, Mr. Balloon! I gotta make sure this doesn’t fly away… Looks like it’s responding to shifts in the air and static electricity! The balloons are so cute how they float like that! Wait a sec… If we make lots more and tie them to me, do you think I could fly!?
Hugh: Not a bad idea…
Diana: Really!? Then… I can fly?
Hugh: Not gonna lie… Bunch of kids have already tried that. But on the moon, it might actually work…
Diana: I’m gonna make it happen! If I leave the balloons out, will they pop?
Hugh: The balloons all OK?
Diana: Yep! They’re all there!
Hugh: Look at you go. I was always popping or losing every balloon I saw.
Diana: Umm…
Hugh: What’s wrong?
Diana: Well… The truth is… I did lose one…
Hugh: Hahah. That’s all a part of what makes balloons fun. Don’t sweat it.

RC Car

Station AI: Read Earth Memory series completed. Replicating related objects.
Diana: We did it! I could play here forever… I bet human kids feel the same! Wait, is this a mini version of that car I saw before? I wanna drive it! Oh no! I forgot to put the RC car away!
Hugh: Come to think of it, how’s that thing running? Batteries included?
Diana: Hmm… Not sure! I thought it was charging from the floor! Like me.
Hugh: Hold up—you charge from the floor!?
Diana: Mhmm! The Cradle’s lined with energy and supports wireless charging. I think all the bots here use it to recharge.
Hugh: Right… With this many bots around, I guess that kinda setup’s a no-brainer…
Diana: AAAH! Watch out! Ahh, I got hit, but I’m OK! Leave it to me, sir! I’ll make sure all the lights are green! Look, look! This is great! Oops… There it goes. I’m so good at this!
Hugh: Did you hack the car or something?
Diana: Yup! I’ve got the hang of it! It’s super easy! There’s only two things it can do—stop and go!
Hugh: Pretty much the same as real cars.
Diana: Really? Then maybe I can drive a real car too! I wanna try!
Hugh: Yeah, I got a bad feeling about that. Let’s not.

Flowers

Diana: Flowers! Were these the ones from the Terra Dome? I hope my flower’s still OK. Plants from the Terra Dome would probably all be wilted by now…
Hugh: The lunafilament plants that grow on their own, yeah? They’re way too delicate… Wouldn’t stand a chance growing in the Shelter. Turn out REM flowers suit you just right.
Diana: I think so too! Ooh, I hope a butterfly shows up! So pretty! They don’t have much of a smell though. Done! Look! Isn’t it perfect? I was making a flower crown ‘cause I saw it in a book. I’ll weave the flowers into a loop, and then wear it on my head.
Hugh: That’s pretty cool.
Diana: I know! Don’t worry, I’ll let you wear it too!
Hugh: For me? I’m not so sure that will suit my style…
Diana: Why not? I think it’d look great on you!
Hugh: Look, I’m already wearing a helmet, so that thing’d just slip right off.
Diana: Oh, that’s true… Well, more flowers for me then!

Swing

Diana: Hugh, have you ever played on one of these before? I never thought swinging would be this fun! Hey! Can I jump off this thing? Gotta go higher…! And higher…!
Hugh: Hey Diana, don’t go launching yourself off the swing, OK?
Diana: Why not?
Hugh: ‘Cause I broke my wrist doing that once.
Diana: Really? You broke it!?
Hugh: Yeah, I don’t recommend it either. So I’m serious here—watch it all right?
Diana: OK, Hugh. I’ll be careful.

Bug Net

Diana: With this, I’ll catch butterflies, birds, and… maybe even a cat! Stay still! OK. Here’s my chance… No! I missed… Ugh, I can’t catch anything… Hugh, you ever catch something with a net?
Hugh: Umm… I’d scoop up fish down at the river. And I even caught a snake in my yard once.
Diana: A snake!?
Hugh: It wasn’t poisonous or anything. I lifted it up and just tossed it away.
Diana: I think I’ll pass on snakes… Mr. Bug Net! You never know when a kitty could just pop out of nowhere… So I should carry a net, so I can catch one next time!
Hugh: Uh, you better think twice before swinging a net at a cat.
Diana: But why? They’re really fast! I can’t grab them with my hands!
Hugh: Cats don’t take kindly to being cornered. You gotta earn their trust, only then can you be their friend. So just be patient, and see if they’ll come around on their own.
Diana: OK… I’ll try…

Tent

Diana: Wow! Can I use this as my secret hideout? I’ve always wanted one just like this! Hehehe… Stay out, Hugh! This is my secret hideout. Hmm… It’s nice having some quiet time… What should I do…? If I ever get a bigger tent someday, I’ll invite you in!
Hugh: Enjoying life in your secret hideout?
Diana: Yeah: But… It’s a bit boring just by myself. If it was bigger, I was thinking you could join me!
Hugh: Then it wouldn’t be so secret anymore, would it?
Diana: I guess?
Hugh: Yeah, the whole point of a secret base is to hide in it from the grown-ups! Could be you’re not quite ready for this…

Campfire

Station AI: Read Earth Memory series completed. Replicating related objects.
Diana: We did it! Play, nap, and play some more! Camping is so much fun! What’s the point of a holographic fire anyway…? Nice fire… I’m camping tonight, the stars are so bright. Hmm… I wonder why people sit around campfires… Even though it’s not a real fire, I can’t stop watching! I bet I’d watch even longer if it were real… Hey Hugh, can we try burning something? I wanna check if it’s like a real campfire!
Hugh: Are you kidding!? You trying to torch this place or what!? Plus if it all goes up in flames, where does that leave Cabin?
Diana: Oh right… I forgot the Shelter means a lot to them… I don’t wanna make them sad, so I’ll stop then…

Water Gun

Diana: Yay! Now I’ve got a weapon too! Time for me to shine! Hey! Can I bring this along next time? “Check.” Hahaha… Hehe! “Back off! Out of my way!” I got carried away with the water gun and now I’m all wet…
Hugh: The whole point is to make a mess! That’s what makes it so fun. Don’t hold back—drench the place! Go big or go home! Oh and just so you know… Water guns on Earth are typically used outside… So getting everything all soaked is no problem.
Diana: Oh! That makes sense!
Hugh: Arrargh!
Diana: Bang! Bang! Bang! BANG!
Hugh: Ugh—argh…! You got me…
Diana: Yeah! I did it! This water gun is the best! I like it just as much as my crayons!
Hugh: So this whole act you got going on here.. I’m guessing you’re trying to imitate me?
Diana: Yep! That’s right!
Hugh: Hmm, I’m gonna need to watch what I say…

Sandcastle

Diana: I don’t get it. Why would you build something so fragile? I wonder if this REM was inspired by someone’s memory… It falls apart and then fixes itself… Real ones must be different. I really like how this sand feels. Why do people build sand castles anyway? They always crumble! Wouldn’t it be better to make them out of something stronger?
Hugh: That’s the fun part—you build it as quick as you can and it falls apart just as fast.
Diana: What’s fun about that?
Hugh: It’s not about WHAT you make—it’s the act of making that’s fun.
Diana: Hmm… But aren’t you sad when it falls apart?
Hugh: Not everything needs to be forever, sometimes it’s enough to just enjoy the moment.
Diana: Oh no… Sand’s all over the place… I like how the sand feels on my toes. I press down and sink in.
Hugh: Heh, must feel nice since you’re barefoot. Fine if the sand’s clean and soft, but some beaches are loaded with rocks. We’ll make sure to get you some water shoes before we head to the beach, OK? You’ll probably need some regular ones too… And socks…
Diana: I don’t really get it, but whatever you say!

Parasol

Station AI: Read Earth Memory series completed. Replicating related objects.
Diana: We did it! I bet the person who collected these really loved the ocean! What a big umbrella! No way I can hold this with one hand! The real ocean has fishies in it, right? Hugh, wanna sit next to me? I can’t wait to see a real ocean. A parasol is basically a roof, but underneath—it feels like my own little space.
Hugh: I know what you mean… It’s like a cozy home with no walls.
Diana: Right? If you get tired, you can rest under the parasol too!
Hugh: Hehe, thanks… I’ll bring a cooler packed with some drinks when I do.
