Contradiction: Spot the Liar! is a live-action FMV murder mystery where players step into the shoes of Detective Inspector Jenks to investigate the suspicious death of Kate Vine in the village of Edenton. The gameplay revolves around interrogating suspects, identifying contradictions in their testimonies, and piecing together clues through dialogue-driven puzzles.
Why the Writing Matters:
The script’s structure transforms dialogue into a core puzzle mechanic—players must cross-examine statements and physically pair contradictory phrases to progress. This design, coupled with Follin’s emphasis on nonlinear storytelling and psychological depth, elevates the game beyond traditional FMV titles.
